Description

Fast-acting variation of May-Grünwald Giemsa staining

What is RAL 555 kit?

The main challenges in the medical analysis laboratories are to provide fast, accurate and reproducible results. Furthermore, the technicians must be able to handle urgent tubes (CBC or cerebrospinal fluid in case of meningitis suspicion…), system breakdowns or rapid screenings (Malaria).

However, they cannot disturb the daily laboratory workflow. It can be difficult, in these conditions, for the labs to provide a reliable resultquickly.

To address these challenges, RAL Diagnostics developed Kit RAL 555 , a fast-acting variation of May-Grünwald Giemsa staining. It is a versatile staining that can serve in hematology (blood and bone marrow smears), in parasitology, histology, spermiology and cyto-bacteriology.

This staining allows for example malaria identification or spermatozoa morphological study (spermocytogram). Most frequently used in hematology, this kit provides a reliable and reproducible stained blood smear in only 15 seconds.

How does kit RAL 555 work?

This kit consists of 3 ready to use bottles for a 3–step bath staining technique. The staining only requires to insert the slide successively in the 3 different bottles for 5 seconds in each.

3 bottles for 3 functions

  • The first FIX-RAL 555 bottle allows to fix cells on the slide
  • The second EOSINE-RAL 555 bottle contains an eosin solution : an acid stain with special affinity with basic cellular elements such as cytoplasm.
  • The last BLUE-RAL 555 bottle contains a methylene blue dye : a basic stain fixing acid cellular elements like nucleus and chromatin of cells.

The analysis of blood and bone marrow smears using Kit RAL 555 is similar to that performed with Romanowsky classic staining.

Benefits

GIVE A RELIABLE RESULT

One kit guarantees the staining of 230 slides with the same consistent quality for microscope analysis.

SAVE TIME

Easy 3-step protocol, allowing to stain a blood smear in only 15 seconds and a bone marrow smear in 3 minutes.

The ready to use reagents are time–saving for the technicians.

SIMPLIFY YOUR HANDLING

To facilitate handling, the bottles have a wide neck allowing to directly insert the slides for the staining.

WORK SAFELY

The first step of fixation insures an absence of cross contamination.

The ready to use reagents combined with short staining protocols limit exposure to vapors.
