A Powerful Teaching, Training and Proficiency Solution for Hematology

CellaVision Proficiency Software supports modern morphology education, laboratory training, and competency assessment in both academic and clinical settings.

Dr. Jane Moon, Senior Lecturer Haematology at RMIT University shares her experience.

“CellaVision Proficiency Software has been instrumental in teaching morphology in Haematology. Morphology is delivered in hybrid mode online via CellaVision Proficiency Software on odd weeks, and offline face to face using the microscope on even weeks. The online session is recorded so the students can review and revise whenever they can.

The students love it as the interface is very easy to use, they can get the results (white cell differentials) in real time, feedback is instant. The scanned images are very clear unlike manual slides where you can get variations in stain quality. We have students travelling to and from university up to 2 hours one way. It's very convenient for them to engage learning from remote areas.

Once the students have a laboratory placement (all of them have to do the placement), many use the CellaVision to review blood films. As students are tech savvy, they seem to pick up things really quickly and adopt to the technology well. It is one of the major teaching tools that I use to teach morphology and will not go back to conventional ways!

As a teacher, I use CellaVision to do the mid and final semester test. It saves myself and the technicians heaps of time labelling the slides! The software is easy to use and grading is simple (overall %).”
