Description
The Ziehl Carbolic Fuchsin is used in Gram-Nicolle staining for the detection of Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative Bacteria. Ziehl Carbolic Fuchsin stains Gram-Negative Bacteria pink. Used sed in Ziehl-Neelsen (Hot-Staining Technique) and Ziehl-Armand (Hot-Staining Technique, variation of Ziehl-Neelsen staining) stainings for the detection of mycobacteria (also called Acid-Alcohol-Fast Bacilli – AFB). Ziehl Carbolic Fuchsin stains mycobacteria pink. Used in modified Ziehl-Neelsen staining for the detection of semi-acid-fast micro-organisms. This staining allows to make out Nocardia (semi-acido-alcoholo-fast strain) amongst Actinomyces, Actinomadura and Streptomyces (non semi-acido-alcoholo-fast bacteria). Ziehl Carbolic Fuchsin stains Nocardia filaments light pink.
