Highlighting hemosiderin, pathological pigment (ferric salts)
In an acid environment, ferric ions react with Potassium Ferrocyanide to form a precipitate: Ferric Ferrocyanide (or Prussian Blue), that shows the presence of the pathological pigment, Haemosiderin.This pigment is found in the liver and in bone marrow in diseases such as Haemochromatosis, Cirrhosis and some anemia.
