CellaVision Announces Distribution Agreement with Siemens for Digital Microscopy Hematology Solutions
CellaVision announces the signing of a supply, distributorship, sales and service agreement - effective January 1, 2013 - with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics through which Siemens is able to offer its clinical laboratory customers* access to CellaVision's leading-edge digital microscopy hematology products. The solutions available to customers compliment existing hematology products in the Siemens portfolio and complete the company's hematology offerings for high-volume laboratories.
Hematology products covered in the agreement, such as the CellaVision® DM96 and DM1200, are used by clinical laboratories for automated medical microscopy analysis. This process, which standardizes manual differential results, helps increase efficiency for routine work. CellaVision technology automates digital cell morphology, where cells are automatically located on a stained peripheral blood or body fluid smear, pre-classified, stored and presented for confirmation by a technologist. Ultimately, this accelerates turnaround time and produces better, more standardized differential results. Plus, through CellaVision's flexible software applications, remote users have real-time access to patients' cell images.
CellaVision's product line is the ideal addition to Siemens' already robust hematology portfolio and in particular, the Siemens ADVIA® 2120i Hematology System with Autoslide-an analyzer delivering advanced testing methodologies that automates hematology workflow without the need for large track-based systems, expensive stains or reflexive testing.
"The agreement with Siemens is part of our long term expansion strategy and strengthens our market leadership. CellaVision is very pleased to offer Siemens' hematology customers the opportunity to become users of the digital way of doing cell differentials. The confidence in our products and the trust in our company, shown by Siemens, make us very proud. It further proves that CellaVision is now the gold standard in digital analysis of cell differentials in blood and other body fluids," said Yvonne Mårtensson, CellaVision CEO."
"Siemens remains firmly committed to growing our hematology offerings for our customers, including the formation of strategic relationships that broaden our portfolio's depth and ensure laboratories have access to the most advanced tools available today," said Stefan Wolf, CEO, Hemostasis, Hematology, and Specialty Business Unit, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. "Through our collaboration with CellaVision, we can now deliver digital microscopy products to laboratories worldwide, expanding our practical automation solutions to help high-volume operations improve their workflow efficiency."
