CellaVision supports Medical Technology education across the U.S. and Canada
Accurately assessing the morphology of blood cells is one of the most difficult procedures performed in the clinical laboratory. It is a skill that requires both effective training as a student, and significant experience on-the-job.
"Once we discovered that the majority of the over 300 MT and MLT programs in North America have very limited budgets, we accepted the challenge to allow free and easy access to our software to all programs out there, said Ron Hagner, CellaVision's Group Vice President, North America. "We are donating up to $3,000,000 in software to the institutions which join the initiative."
Kathleen Finnegan, MS MT(ASCP)SH, Clinical Associate Professor and Chair of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, is very appreciative that CellaVision has taken this step: "CellaVision's initiative will be very well received by the educators of Clinical Laboratory Sciences /Medical Technology Programs. Having this educational tool is an asset for teaching cell morphology. It gives students an incredible visual of all the characteristics of blood cells. This teaching software will ensure that our graduates are ready for the increasing use of digital imaging and the work force. Thank you CellaVision for helping educators train better technologists and for helping students become proficient in cell identification".
Beginning immediately, all University and College Medical Technology and Clinical Laboratory Science Programs in North America can join the initiative just by contacting na.info@cellavision.com.
The CellaVision® Competency Software is a program for education and competency testing of manual blood cell differentials in laboratories. It was originally developed for the CellaVision® DM96 digital cell morphology system currently being used in over 150 labs in North America alone. The two products together improve the efficiency, consistency and connectivity of the manual differentials being performed on peripheral blood and body fluids.
