Sample of cells classified in the Global Test 2024:4

RBC Overview

Case Conclusion
The patient’s hemoglobin, WBC count, and platelet count were normal; however, the WBC differential revealed approximately 10% abnormal lymphocytes. These cells exhibited condensed chromatin, high nuclear-to-cytoplasmic (N:C) ratios, irregular nuclear contours, and deep, narrow nuclear clefts. Flow cytometry confirmed the presence of a population of clonal B cells.
Global Test 2024:4 Results Webinar
Questions discussed during the webinar include:
- Compare participant and examiner results
- Discuss the morphological characteristics of abnormal/malignant lymphocytes
- Differentiate chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), follicular lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, and other B-cell neoplasms based on morphology, immunophenotype, and genetic features
- Discuss leukemic involvement in non-Hodgkin lymphoma
- Review the International Council for Standardization in Hematology (ICSH) guidelines for classifying reactive and malignant lymphocytes, and smudge cells.
